The beautiful, varied landscape of the Gower Peninsula (Welsh: Penrhyn Gwyr) was the first place in the UK to be labelled an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) by the Countryside Agency on behalf of the British government. It is one of only five within Wales.

The enclosed Gower Peninsula surrounded by the Bristol Sea and the Atlantic Ocean has become a haven for some of the most diverse wildlife and mixed habitats in Wales and the rest of Britain.

Scattering the landscape in Gower are ancient reminders of past ‘Gowerians’, including churches, cathedrals, castles, fortifications, and ancient standing stones. All this against a stunning backdrop of hills, beaches, clifftops, valleys, commons, dunes, marshes and caves.
